Eye Candy for Suit Lovers

21 Feb

To provide our readers with a little office chic mojo, we’ll be sharing with you work-appropriate, lust-worthy pieces that we admire. We’ll post at least one splurge and one budget piece each week.

For example, we love this Classiques Entier suit found at Nordstrom ($268 for the jacket and $158 for the pants). Unfortunately, this suit doesn’t quite make it to the splurge category, but it isn’t quite a budget item either. Kind of a “tweener.” In terms of personality, it strikes just the right balance between stylish and “I-mean-business-dammit”.

We’d wear the suit with an ivory shell for a client meeting. It would also look great with lavender, light blue, turquoise, berry red, and magenta for other days. We would not suggest this suit for an interview since we tend to err on the side of ultra-conservative and wear solid-colored black or navy skirt suits for interviews (although this suit is sold with a skirt, its pin dot stripe pattern – subtle though it may be – is a little much for an interview in conservative fields like law). For shoes, we’d add a simple black round-toe or almond-toe pump (or, if comfort is no issue, go pointy-toed); if you know you aren’t having high-profile meetings and want to have a little more fun, wear the ivory shell with a very dark red Mary Jane pump for a pop of color and adventure! For jewelry, you can never go wrong with a strand of pearls and pearl studs for the office.

If you readers find pieces you’d like to see on our blog, feel free to send them to us at cornerofficechic@gmail.com.
